Things I learnt with my recent career change
This leap was equivalent to two years in weekly therapy sessions. I strongly encourage you to do the same.
I learnt that my biggest source of anxiety is - and has always been even when I was an employee in all the countries I lived in - financial. And there are two things that help me with that: precise and strategic planning + keep working on my relationship with money and finances.
Working strategically, learning to prioritize and trusting my guts have never been so relevant.
The best investment I can make anytime is on studying and practicing. This is the only way to improve my craft and my self-confidence.
It’s ok to cringe at my past work, this means that I’m evolving my craft and I’m somewhere in the process of the ‘talent gap’.
There’s an abundance of good people in the universe that just wanna see you grow and evolve, and this is truly priceless. I will keep working to always be the person that gives, teaches and cheers for others too.
Replacing ‘networking’ for ‘connection’ is truly incredible and it makes the conversations flow and the collaborations more authentic. Being able to truly connect with other humans and give them something of value is definitely the best part of my job.
With all the anxiety, insecurity and the questioning of my competence that was brought to me from this career change there isn’t a single day that I regret doing it. I surely learnt things that I could’ve done better and if I were to do it again I would fix them. But the self-discovery journey, the artistic expressions and re-discovering my professional competence and emotional resilience - along with the geographic autonomy that I gained - make it all worthy.
I speak more about it on my weekly newsletter. Click here to sign up on your preferred language.
